Le Bonheur de Vivre, 1998
Located on the exterior wall of now Wells Fargo (originally the GAP), "the drag" location, at corner of 24th and Guadalupe Street across from University of Texas in Austin, Texas
As an ode to the impressionists, this mural exhibits many styles and techniques used by the impressionists as well as ingenious techniques and ideas created by master muralist, Doug Jaques. Bejat apprenticed with Doug to learn many new techniques and mediums, including the use of interference and pearlescent paints, which she now frequently uses for particular subject matter.
"The use of impasto with pastry bags was brilliant and incredible fun and can only be fully appreciated in person. For the viewer is drawn to feel the depth. Many Austinites can be found mesmerized, contemplating the scene before their eyes. Within it's boarders, it carries you off to another world." -Bejat McCracken
Bejat's work has been influenced by Doug Jaques and she has studied under him for a number of years. She finds that every time she encounters his work she experiences something new and compelling that brings her back to her studio inspired.
