Hickory Street Bar and Grill, 1992
Located on the exterior wall of Hickory Street Bar and Grill at the corner of 8th and Congress, downtown Austin, Texas
Bejat began her mural instruction on these walls with Austin Community College professor, Doug Jaques. Students appear as characters in the mural, one of which is Bejat sitting in the grass under the arches having a picnic with another student and the owner of the Hickory Street Bar and Grill. The wall is odd shaped and precariously positioned on the hill of 8th Street leading to Congress Avenue. Therefore, the initial design for the wall was quite inventive and creates a unique perspective eight blocks down from the Capitol of Texas. This mural took one semester with post class follow up to complete. After many years this mural had become a landmark icon in Austin featured in various publications, local papers and brochures.
